DOMAINE DE LA TÊTE NOIRE

Its 22-hectare vineyard is located in the southern part of the Rhône Valley wine appellation and extends over the villages of Gigondas, Vacqueyras and Cairanne. Its vineyard, consisting of a dozen plots, offers a beautiful variety of terroirs, for certified «organic» wines since 2012.

WINSLEY DE MARIA

With my family, we took over the estate in 2015, our predecessors having to leave it for health reasons. The Domaine de la Tête Noire, created in 2008, was a real challenge for its creators from Belgium. Self-taught, they decided at the time to buy plots of vines on the terroirs of Gigondas, Vacqueyras and Cairanne.

This estate is indeed a story of challenge because it is also a challenge for me to have arrived at its head at the age of 23, to run the management of the vineyard, the winemaking and the commercial orientation. I firmly maintain the field that obtained the Organic Agriculture certification of Ecocert in 2012.

I am always as enthusiastic about this commitment to do everything possible to respect our environment, my wines and my consumers!

THE VINEYARD

Our vineyard consists of 1.5 hectares of Gigondas, 10 hectares in Vacqueyras, 2 hectares of Cairanne and 6 hectares of Côtes-du-Rhône Villages.

Sometimes light and fruity, sometimes full-bodied and powerful, the wines of our vineyards derive their personality from an amazing range of soils and grape varieties (mainly Grenache and Syrah), thus offering rich and varied wines.

In the vineyard, we adopt a rigorous pruning and pay special attention throughout the year in accordance with the requirements of our terroirs. In the cellar, we compose with winemaking techniques that resemble us, in order to bring a wide choice of wines to the amateurs of our cuvées.

OUR APPELLATIONS

The Domaine de la Tête Noire is located on four appellations of character: Gigondas, Vacqueyras, Cairanne and Côtes-du-Rhône Villages.

Appellations with large aromatic palettes that allow us to offer a beautiful diversity of wines.

Nestled at the foot of the Dentelles de Montmirail in a Mediterranean climate, the vines of our different appellations are also influenced by the Mistral. This particular climate allows us to produce wines with well-present tannins with a nice aromatic complexity. The quality of our wines is recognized by prescribers such as Robert Parker, Josh Reynolds, Jancis Robinson, as well as the famous Guide Hachette and the Concours des Vins such as Paris, Lyon, Avignon and Mâcon.
